We all want to be better to each other. So why is it so hard?

We all feel it.
The pull to be patient, to understand, to do the right thing…
and the moments when we fall short.

That gap between intention and action isn’t a failure. It’s part of being human.

Start Here With Some Reflections

The essays above explore many of the same questions that inspire my books: how we treat one another, why we struggle, and what it means to live with compassion.

About Albert

Albert Alarcon writes about compassion, human nature, and the quiet moments that shape how we treat one another. His work explores the quiet effort of becoming who we hope to be, through story, reflection, and everyday experience.

When he isn’t writing, he enjoys time outdoors, good conversation, and the kinds of stories that ask more than they answer—from science fiction to the small moments of ordinary life. He lives in California with his wife, Darla.

His influences range from moral fables and mythology to classic science fiction, reflective storytelling, and, yes, even Godzilla, all of which continue to shape the questions explored in his work.

Nature Within Us

“A Book About Compassion in a Complicated World”

The Nature Within Us explores why it can be so difficult to stay kind in a world that constantly pulls us in the opposite direction.

Through everyday moments and reflection, it looks at the gaps between who we are and who we want to be—and what it takes to choose better, even when it isn’t easy.
